Teaching

In addition to my work as a sound engineer and tour manager, I have been teaching at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht since 2022. Over the years, as a professional in the audio and music industry, I have gained various experiences and learned a lot. Being able to pass on my knowledge and my love for sound and music as a Live Sound Engineering teacher to the next generation of sound engineers is a great privilege.

About the Herman Brood Academy

The Herman Brood Academy is the place where organizational, technical, and musical talent is trained for a future in the creative industry. The various programs offered include Artist Musician, Music Industry Professional, and Stage/Studio Technology. HBA is known for its dynamic and innovative approach, emphasizing the development of practical skills and the stimulation of creativity

Knowledge transfer to the next generation of sound engineers

As a Live Sound Engineering teacher, I play a crucial role in transferring valuable knowledge, techniques, and insights. During my lessons, I challenge my students to bring out the best in themselves and prepare them for a career as sound engineers. I not only focus on the technical aspects of live sound, such as equipment usage and acoustic principles but also encourage my students to develop their own style. Creating a trusted, stimulating learning environment is a top priority.

The possibilities, opportunities, and challenges of the profession

What brings me the most joy is exploring with my students what is possible in the world of live sound. What are the (business) opportunities the profession offers? What are the challenges? And how do you develop into a successful entrepreneur within the music industry? I firmly believe in not only imparting technical skills but also highlighting the importance of good communication, teamwork, and flexibility to my students.
